Standards compliance
This website complies with Level A of the W3C Web Accessibilty Initiative's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 and the Section 508 Standards of the United States Rehabilitation Act. (Validated with Cyntia Says web accessibility checking tool).
Increasing the Text Size
The site makes use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for visual layout. This site uses relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "Text Size" option in visual browsers. Also, attempt has been made to select fonts that are easily readable and colours that contrast adequately from rest of the background. There are two options to increase the text size:
- Most browsers and browsing devices have a text resizing feature (“View” menu, “Text Size”).
- ‘Change Text Size’ option on the left sidebar, provided on each page, may be used to increase the text size upto 140% (This option is not yet available in the Discussion Forum)
Changing Colour and Contrast
Select one of the four options, on the right sidebar of each page (just under 'Media Coverage' block), to change colour and contrast between the text and background. This option is not yet available in the Discussion Forums.
Navigation
The primary navigation of this website is through the navigation bar on the top of each page. Clicking on AccessAbility logo at the top of each page will take you back to the home page.
Navigation Aids: Access Keys
Access keys have been set up to make it possible to navigate frequently used pages using your keyboard. The access keys used are based on the UK Government Accesskey Standard produced by the E-Government Unit, where relevant. Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. In Windows, you can press Alt + an access key (if you are using Internet Explorer, press ‘Enter’ or ‘Return’ to follow the link); on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key. These Keyboard shortcuts are intended to help users who have difficulty in using pointing devices such as a mouse.
Available access keys:
S - Skip navigation
1 - Home page
a – About Us
b - Services Offered
9 – Contact Us
0 - Accessibility Statement

- Internet Explorer 4 (PC): Hold down the ALT key and press the number of the access key

Please note that some assistive technology tools such as the IBM HomePage Reader and WindowEyes already make use of the alt+[access key] combinations. As such, users of these tools will not be able to use these access keys. These access key assignments are based on extensive research into best practice across the web (in an attempt to be consistent with other sites' access keys), and an understanding of the key global navigation requirements of most web surfers.
