Think of your body as a high-powered, finely engineered transportation vehicle, like a space shuttle. Instead of liquid hydrogen, your body is powered by your own intake. The food you eat is the fuel that energizes the vehicle. What you put in your fuel tank is burned by your high performance activity or - in the case of low-octane, junk food - is deposited in your engine. Think of your mind as the driver who takes control of and steers your body to victory or hits the wall. Your body is very much like a car. Drive it without proper fuel or maintenance and it will fall apart. You take it for granted to get you where you want to go, until it breaks down. Then it disrupts your way of life.
Like your car, your body only speaks to you by exception. You only notice it when it is damaged or inoperative. But, unlike your car, the spare parts business for your body is not a viable option at present.
To combat disease and aging, you need to keep your bones, joints and muscles flexible and strong. The right exercise means weight-bearing exercise, not simply aerobics. The International College of Sports Medicine has now added exercise with weights to its long-time recommendation of aerobic exercise. First, check with your physician who can assess your general condition and advise you about healthy levels of activity. Second, be aware that the effectiveness of exercise depends as much on enjoyment as on the nature of activity itself.
Just as important, if not more important than daily exercise, is proper nutrition. What you eat has a major impact on degenerative diseases. Do eat a low fat diet. Keep your fat intake to 15 percent of all daily calories. This will keep you lean and boost your immunity. Do eat a low salt diet. Use a potassium-based salt substitute on the table and in cooking. Do eat a high-fiber diet. Fiber protects the colon from cancer, lowers cholesterol and stabilizes blood sugar. Eat 40 to 50 grams of mixed fibers daily, as in whole grain breads and cereals, especially those containing oat bran, vegetables and fruits. Do eat a low-sugar diet. Use a little fructose in place of table sugar. Eat complex carbohydrates in place of sugar and look for carbohydrate drinks sweetened with zylitol. Do drink clean water. Drink bottled or home-distilled water, as much as eight glasses per day.
Do eat an alkaline diet. Our high-fat, high-sugar diet creates acidity. So many people are now acidic that we spend hundreds of millions of dollars on antacids every year.
Do take daily nutritional supplements including essential multi-vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. Current research confirms that we can no longer get the essential nutrients from our food alone. We must supplement even the best diet with nutrition to promote resistance to disease. Do eat the right kinds of foods and stay away from the fast-food, fat-food drive-throughs. You are doing yourself and your children a dangerous, long-term disservice by developing the habit of eating high-fat, nutrition-poor meals. Make your health your top priority. You can´t buy your health or life back after years of neglecting it while you earn your living.

The modulations of the mind are five-fold, painful or not painful’.
There are certain vruttis or modulations of the mind, which are problematic.
1 : Wanting proof.
2 : Wrong understanding.
3 : Imagination.
4 : Sleep.
5 : Memory.
are the five modulations of the mind .
‘the different kinds of proof the mind requires are the obvious, experiential proof, inferential proof and scriptural proof’.
Pratyaksha means obvious, experiential. Our mind constantly wants to have an obvious, solid experiential proof. This is one mode of activity of the mind. Another is anumana, which means, it is not so obvious, but you infer and whatever you infer, you believe.
Agamaha is the proof the mind takes from scriptures or from books. Because it is written. Even today in certain remote villages, anything printed is the gospel truth. Many people say that since something is written it must be right. We are constantly looking for proof of something or anything.
Yoga is when you drop this search and then abide in the self. Abiding in the self does not need proof. Truth cannot be understood through proof. God is beyond proof. You cannot prove God, nor can you disprove God.
Proof is connected to logic and logic is very limited in its preview. This is the same with enlightenment, same with love. Love can never be proved or disproved. This is not in the realm of the seer. The seer is beyond proof.
Most of the time you impose your own ideas and views and feeling on others and you think that is how they are. This is called viparyaya.
You have an inferiority complex or you suddenly see someone else behaving very arrogantly. They might not be arrogant and you are not being ill-treated by them. But you suddenly feel that you are being ill-treated. You are not respected because you do not respect yourself. You think that others do not respect you. This tendency of your mind is viparyaya. Suddenly people feel that they are not being loved.
This is wrong understanding.
Imagination is a sort of hallucination followed in sequence by mere words or knowledge and which in reality is devoid of truth.
Vikalpa is sort of a hallucination. Nothing of that sort exists, just mere words which do not carry much meaning hover in the mind. This fantasy is called vikalpa, the third modulation of mind or chitta.
Vikalpa can be of two types. One could be a joyful pleasurable fantasy and the other could be baseless fears. “What will happen if I die tomorrow? What if I have an accident?” These are all just simply sounds which have no value. Baseless fears in the mind or fantasies.
Sleep is another modulation of the mind which has for its objective substratum, the cause of non-existence’.
If the mind is not in any one of the above mentioned three modulations, then in the fourth place it goes to sleep.
The fifth activity of the mind is smruti, which is remembering the experiences it had.

Kawasaki disease is an illness that involves the skin, mouth, and lymph nodes, and most often affects kids under age 5. The cause is unknown, but if the symptoms are recognized early, kids with Kawasaki disease can fully recover within a few days. Untreated, it can lead to serious complications that can affect the heart.
Kawasaki disease occurs in 19 out of every 100,000 kids in the United States. It is most common among children of Japanese and Korean descent, but can affect all ethnic groups.
Signs and Symptoms
Kawasaki disease can't be prevented, but usually has telltale symptoms and signs that appear in phases.
The first phase, which can last for up to 2 weeks, usually involves a persistent fever higher than 104° Fahrenheit (39° Celsius) and lasts for at least 5 days.
Other symptoms that typically develop include:
severe redness in the eyes
a rash on the stomach, chest, and genitals
red, dry, cracked lips
swollen tongue with a white coating and big red bumps
sore, irritated throat
swollen palms of the hands and soles of the feet with a purple-red color
swollen lymph nodes
During the second phase, which usually begins within 2 weeks of when the fever started, the skin on the hands and feet may begin to peel in large pieces. The child also may experience joint pain, diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain. If your child shows any of these symptoms, call your doctor.
Complications
Doctors can manage the symptoms of Kawasaki disease if they catch it early. Symptoms often disappear within just 2 days of the start of treatment. If Kawasaki disease is treated within 10 days of the onset of symptoms, heart problems usually do not develop.
Cases that go untreated can lead to more serious complications, such as vasculitis,an inflammation of the blood vessels. This can be particularly dangerous because it can affect the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart.
In addition to the coronary arteries, the heart muscle, lining, valves, and the outer membrane that surrounds the heart can become inflamed. Arrhythmias (changes in the normal pattern of the heartbeat) or abnormal functioning of some heart valves also can occur.
Diagnosis
No single test can detect Kawasaki disease, so doctors usually diagnose it by evaluating the symptoms and ruling out other conditions.
Most kids diagnosed with Kawasaki disease will have a fever lasting 5 or more days and at least four of these symptoms:
redness in both eyes
changes around the lips, tongue, or mouth
changes in the fingers and toes, such as swelling, discoloration, or peeling
a rash in the trunk or genital area
a large swollen lymph node in the neck
red, swollen palms of hands and soles of feet
If Kawasaki disease is suspected, the doctor may order tests to monitor heart function (such as an echocardiogram) and might take blood and urine samples to rule out other conditions, such as scarlet fever, measles, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, or an allergic drug reaction.
Treatment
Treatment should begin as soon as possible, ideally within 10 days of when the fever begins. Usually, a child is treated with intravenous doses of gamma globulin (purified antibodies), an ingredient of blood that helps the body fight infection. The child also might be given a high dose of aspirin to reduce the risk of heart problems.

HOW TO STAY HEALTHY
1. Cleaning the face : One should wash face 5-6 times a day. This helps in cleaning of the dirt accumulated on the face and gives freshness.
2. Protecting eyesight : Fill your mouth with water, close the eyes and sprinkle water on them about 10-15 times. Gently rub the eyelids and give a tender massage to the eye balls. Staying up late in the night and sleeping after sunrise is harmful for the eyes.
3. Drinking a glass of water : After this one should take a glass of water. This helps in the smooth passing of stool and urine. Make it a regular habit to drink 10-12 glass of water everyday. Warm water is especially good for regulating elimination and cleansing toxins from the physiology.
4. Cleaning teeth : The twig of neem or babool should be used for cleaning the teeth.
5 Scraping the tongue : Tongue should be scraped regularly otherwise it gives rise to foul smells. Scrapets made of copper, steel or plastic can be used.
6. Gargling : Til oil gargling is good for jaws, depth of voice and good taste for food. By doing this type of gargling one never gets cracked lips, bad odor, sore throat and toothache.
7. Bathing : Bath removes dirt, sweating and fatigue and brings freshness to the body. Before bath Til oil massage is very beneficial for skin and body.
8. Application of oil : One who applies Til oil on his head regularly does not suffer from headache, baldness or graying of hair. It is also beneficial for applications in nose and ears and makes the skin soft and smooth.
9. Exercise : Physical exercise and Yoga Asans bring lightness to the body, ability to work, stability and stimulate the power of digestion.
10. Hair and nails : The dressing and cutting of hair, mustaches, beard and nails of hand and feet, add cleanliness and beauty to one's personality.
11. Food : Ayurveda recommends vegetarian foods which gives more nourishment to the body than the non-vegetarian foods. Simple food makes the body strong and discords diseases. Overeating may cause obesity and may invite diseases.
12. Night meals : Food should be taken 2-3 hours before going to bed. This will help in proper digestion of food.

I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I wouldn't fail.
The same four walls and busywork where really more like jail.
I longed so much to do the things I'd never done before,
But stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.
I said it didn't matter that I wasn't doing much.
I said I didn't care for things like commission checks and such.
I claimed to be so busy with the things inside my zone,
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.
I couldn't let my life go by just watching others win.
I held my breath; I stepped outside and let the change begin.
I took a step and with new strength I'd never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone good-bye and closed and locked the door.
If you're in comfort zone, afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.
A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true.
Reach for your future with a smile;
Success is there for you!

Pity the man who has a favorite restaurant, but not a favorite author. He's picked out a favorite place to feed his body, but he doesn't have a favorite place to feed his mind!
Why would this be? Have you heard about the accelerated learning curve? From birth, up until the time we are about eighteen, our learning curve is dramatic, and our capacity to learn during this period is just staggering. We learn a tremendous amount very fast. We learn language, culture, history, science, mathematics... everything!
For some people, the accelerated learning process will continue on. But for most, it levels off when they get their first job. If there are no more exams to take, if there's no demand to get out paper and pencil, why read any more books? Of course, you will learn some things through experience. Just getting out there – sometimes doing it wrong and sometimes doing it right - you will learn.
Can you imagine what would happen if you kept up an accelerated learning curve all the rest of your life? Can you imagine what you could learn to do, the skills you could develop, the capacities you could have? Here's what I'm asking you to do: be that unusual person who keeps up his learning curve and develops an appetite for always trying to find good ideas.
One way to feed your mind and educate your philosophy is through the writings of influential people. Maybe you can't meet the person, but you can read his or her books. Churchill is gone, but we still have his books. Aristotle is gone, but we still have his ideas. Search libraries for books and programs. Search magazines. Search documentaries. They are full of opportunities for intellectual feasting.
In addition to reading and listening, you also need a chance to do some talking and sharing. I have some people in my life who help me with important life questions, who assist me in refining my own philosophy, weighing my values and pondering questions about success and lifestyle.
We all need association with people of substance to provide influence concerning major issues such as society, money, enterprise, family, government, love, friendship, culture, taste, opportunity, and community. Philosophy is mostly influenced by ideas, ideas are mostly influenced by education, and education is mostly influenced by the people with whom we associate.
One of the great fortunes of my life was to be around Mr. Shoaff those five years. During that time he shared with me at dinner, during airline flights, at business conferences, in private conversations and in groups. He gave me many ideas that enabled me to make small daily adjustments in my philosophy and activities. Those daily changes, some very slight, but very important, soon added up to weighty sums.
A big part of the lesson was having Mr. Shoaff repeat the ideas over and over. You just can't hear the fundamentals of life philosophy too often. They are the greatest form of nutrition, the building blocks for a well-developed mind.
I'm asking that you feed your mind just as you do your body. Feed it with good ideas, wherever they can be found. Always be on the lookout for a good idea - a business idea, a product idea, a service idea, an idea for personal improvement. Every new idea will help to refine your philosophy. Your philosophy will guide your life, and your life will unfold with distinction and pleasure

Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins
1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer
cells do not show
up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a
few billion. When
doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer
cells in their
bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable
to detect the
cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable
size.
2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a
person's
lifetime.
3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer
cells will be
destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming
tumours.
4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has
multiple nutritional
deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental,
food and
lifestyle factors.
5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies,
changing diet and
including supplements will strengthen the immune system.
6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing
cancer cells and also
destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow,
gastro-intestinal
tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys,
heart, lungs
etc.
7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns,
scars and ! damages
healthy cells, tissues and organs.
8.. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will
often reduce
tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and
radiation do not
result in more tumor destruction.
9. When the body has too much toxic burden from
chemotherapy and radiation
the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence
the person can
succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.
10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to
mutate and become
resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause
cancer cells to
spread to other sites.
11.. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the
cancer cells by not
feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.
WHAT CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts
off one important
food supply to the cancer cells . Sugar substitutes like
NutraSweet,
Equal,Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is
harmful. A better
natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but
only in very small
amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white
in colour.
Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.
b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in
the
gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting
off milk and
substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells are
being starved .
c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A
meat-based diet is
acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken
rather than beef or
pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth
hormones and
parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with
cancer.
d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole
grains, seeds, nuts
and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline
environment. About
20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh
vegetable juices
provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach
down to cellular
levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of
healthy cells.
To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and
drink fresh
vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts)
and eat some raw
vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at
temperatures of 104
degrees F (40 degrees C).
e.. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high
caffeine. Green
tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting
properties. Water-best
to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins
and heavy metals
in tap water. Distilled wate! r is acidic, avoid it.
12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot
of digestive
enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines
become putrified and
leads to more toxic buildup.
13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By
refraining from
or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the
protein walls of
cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to
destroy the cancer cells.
14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6,
Flor-essence,
Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to
enable the body's
own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other
supplements like vitamin
E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death,
the body's normal
method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded
cells.
15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit.
A proactive and
positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a
survivor.. Anger,
unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful
and acidic
environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit.
Learn to relax
and enjoy life.
16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated
environment. Exercising
da ily , and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to
the cellular
level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy
cancer cells.

It is possible to have a healthy well balanced vegetarian lifestyle.
Part of a healthy lifestyle includes proper exercise 3 times a week for at least 20 minutes each.
Finding positive ways to control and deal with your daily stress. Learning to manage your time with regards to yourself and others.
It is vital that we become aware of what we eat. So that by mixing and matching the varies food groups we end up meeting our daily requirement with respect to carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals and vitamins.
The foundation of a good eating habit is having breakfast, lunch, supper and healthy snacks in between. Vegetarians should avoid deficiencies in their diet.
By eating the right kinds of food we can prevent this.

Why do we fast?
Most devout Indians fast regularly or on special occasions like festivals. On such days they do not eat at all, eat once or make do with fruits or a special diet of simple food.
Fasting in Sanskrit is called upavaasa. Upa means "near" + vaasa means "to stay". Upavaasa therefore means staying near (the Lord), meaning the attainment of close mental proximity with the Lord. Then what has upavaasa to do with food?
A lot of our time and energy is spent in procuring food items, preparing, cooking, eating and digesting food. Certain food types make our minds dull and agitated. Hence on certain days man decides to save time and conserve his energy by eating either simple, light food or totally abstaining from eating so that his mind becomes alert and pure. The mind, otherwise pre-occupied by the thought of food, now entertains noble thoughts and stays with the Lord. Since it is a self-imposed form of discipline it is usually adhered to with joy.
Also every system needs a break and an overhaul to work at its best. Rest and a change of diet during fasting is very good for the digestive system and the entire body.
The more you indulge the senses, the more they make their demands. Fasting helps us to cultivate control over our senses, sublimate our desires and guide our minds to be poised and at peace.
Fasting should not make us weak, irritable or create an urge to indulge later. This happens when there is no noble goal behind fasting.
The Bhagavad-Gita urges us to eat appropriately – neither too less nor too much – yukta-aahaara and to eat simple, pure and healthy food (a saatvik diet) even when not fasting.

Although the swine flu hysteria has settled down a bit, it’s still making headlines, as it was front page news here in the New York City area today. The amount of panic over this public health concern is surprising when you consider how most people continue to do things to themselves every day that are far more likely to be deadly. For example, most people are still eating one specific type of food that has been deemed totally unfit for human consumption. Now THAT’s scary.
Alas, fear-mongering and bad news sell, regardless of the true threat level, so the media has been pummeling us with stories about the flu pandemic (and I couldn’t help noticing that many health experts are now arguing that this is no worse than common strains of flu).
I wonder why the media doesn’t put this kind of effort and attention into more productive types of public health messages, like what to eat and what NOT to eat? And why don’t consumers respond with equal alarm when messages about our food are broadcast?
I find it odd the way people have been reacting to the flu news with fear and panic, even avoiding crowded public places like the gym and donning face masks when going out in public. Then they’ll remove these masks and proceed to smoke cigarettes and inhale food that’s potentially far more dangerous than any flu threat. Most people are literally eating poison every day without giving it a second thought.
Here’s the result: In the US alone, 1,700,000 new cases of diabetes, 233,600 diabetes-related deaths, 600,000 myocardial infarctions and 451,300 coronary heart disease-related deaths every year.
Trans Fatty Acids: The poison in our food supply that most people are STILL eating
Trans fatty acids (TFA’s) come mostly from the industrial partial hydrogenation of vegetable oils, which alters the natural cis configuration of the oils to the trans configuration. Trans fats are not found in nature, with the exception of some ruminant-derived TFA’s which are found in certain dairy products (usually contributing less than 0.5%of total caloric intake).
TFA’s have been studied for decades, but were largely ignored until the past several years. Since 2006, TFA’s have thankfully received a decent amount of publicity when they were in the news regarding new food labelling laws and the banning of their use in restaurants in some states.
New Studies on Trans Fats
TFA’s are not new news, but there have been new studies published this year on the dangers of TFA’s, two of them just in the last month. If you think swine flu is scary, consider the following facts from the latest research:
Four recent studies indicated 24, 20, 27 and 32% higher risk of myocardial infarction (MI) or CHD death for every 2% energy of TFA consumption isocalorically replacing carbohydrate, SFA, cis monounsaturated fatty acids and cis polyunsaturated fatty acids, respectively.
Even consumption of small amounts of TFA’s (2% of total energy intake) is consistently linked to coronary heart disease.
If heart disease isn’t enough, the research says that TFA’s will:
Increase belly fat (visceral fat) and body fat
Contribute to insulin resistance
Increase risk of type 2 diabetes
Adversely affect circulating lipid levels (increase bad LDL cholesterol)
trigger systemic inflammation
disrupt glucose-insulin homeostasis
cause metabolic dysfunction
Induce endothelial dysfunction
Adversely affect almost every cell in your body, including hepatocytes, adipocytes, macrophages and endothelial cells.
Some states have enacted legislation banning the use of TFAs in restaurants. It was big news here in New York. As of 2008, 11 cities and counties have adopted regulations to restrict TFA use in restaurants. However, industrial TFA use is still widespread and lots of people are still scarfing them down every day.
TFA intake in the United States still averages 2-3% of total energy intake, 4% in some countries and as high as 8-10% in certain subgroups (who eat large amounts of baked goods, fried foods, pastries, doughnuts, etc). The government recommended maximum is 1% of total energy intake (2 grams!).
Some experts say there is NO safe level of TFA intake. They’re THAT bad.
If Trans fats are so dangerous, why is their use so widespread?
Nutrition author Udo Erasmus put it this way: “TFA’s are a food manufacturer’s dream: an unspoilable substance that lasts forever.” TFA’s are cheap and for countless food products, they can prolong shelf life, allow easy transport, provide solidity at room temperature, and increase suitability for commercial frying.
Although most people have heard of TFA’s, perhaps scariest of all is the level of ignorance and inaction about TFA’s to this day.
A study published in the Journal of The American Dietetic Association found that in 2007, 73% of Americans knew that they increased risk of heart disease, compared to 63% in 2006. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that this increased awareness has not been enough to translate into behavior. “Knowledge about food sources of fats remains low” says Robert Eckel, professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado.
According to the ADA, as of 2007, 79% of Americans could not name 3 foods that contain trans fats. 46% of Americans could not name any sources of trans fats on their own.
Although awareness of TFA’s has increased since 2006, it’s obvious that there’s still a lot of confusion. Most people know that TFA’s are bad for them, but they don’t know how to avoid them.
Public health messages have been working, but they haven’t been enough. “TFA’s are bad for you.” Ok, so now what? What you really need are some simple behavior guidelines and a list of foods to avoid or at least minimize.
Here’s a good place for you to start.
4 Ways to Avoid Trans Fatty Acids
1. Read ingredients lists. The primary source of TFA’s is partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. In particular, soybean, sunflower, cottonseed and palm oils are frequently hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated. Your first step then, is to read food labels on any packaged products and look at the ingredients list. If it contains hydrogenated oils, it contains TFA’s.
2. Watch for label loopholes. WARNING: Food companies are lying to you on their product labels to make you think their foods are TFA-free. The front of their package may say “ZERO grams of trans fats,” and yet there is hydrogenated oil listed in the ingredients. How could that be? There is a label loophole where the government allows companies to claim zero trans fats if there is less than a half a gram per serving. So the food companies sneakily manipulate their serving sizes until the servings are so small that the TFA content falls below the per serving limit.
3. Eat mostly foods that do not have a label. At the risk of stating the obvious, if you don’t eat anything that comes in a box or package with a label, then you won’t ever consume manmade TFA’s. If your diet consists primarily of fruits, fibrous vegetebles, root vegetables, beans, legumes, brown rice, unprocessed whole grains, nuts, seeds, eggs, fish and lean meats, you’re home free.
4. Avoid foods that contain TFA’s most of the time. TFA’s are commonly found in baked goods (bakery), fried foods and packaged convenience foods, especially:
cookies*
crackers*
biscuits*
pastries*
pies*
doughnuts*
packaged frozen foods (breaded chicken, breaded fish, etc)
corn chips
potato chips
packaged popcorn
some breads
frostings
french fries (fried potatoes)
taco shells
margarine
shortening
some salad dressings
* major food sources for American adults

Although many forms of yoga practice are safe, some are strenuous and may
not be appropriate for everyone. In particular, elderly patients or those
with mobility problems may want to check first with a clinician before
choosing yoga as a treatment option.
But for many patients dealing with depression, anxiety, or stress, yoga may
be a very appealing way to better manage symptoms. Indeed, the scientific
study of yoga demonstrates that mental and physical health are not just
closely allied, but are essentially equivalent. The evidence is growing that
yoga practice is a relatively low-risk, high-yield approach to improving
overall health.

The top five cancer-causing foods are:
1. Hot dogs
Because they are high in nitrates, the Cancer Prevention Coalition advises that children eat no more than 12 hot dogs a month. If you can't live without hot dogs, buy those made without sodium nitrate.
2. Processed meats and bacon
Also high in the same sodium nitrates found in hot dogs, bacon, and other processed meats raise the risk of heart disease. The saturated fat in bacon also contributes to cancer.
3. Doughnuts
Doughnuts are cancer-causing double trouble. First, they are made with white flour, sugar, and hydrogenated oils, then fried at high temperatures. Doughnuts, says Adams , may be the worst food you can possibly eat to raise your risk of cancer.
4. French f ries
Like doughnuts, French fries are made with hydrogenated oils and then fried at high temperatures. They also contain cancer- causing acryl amides which occur during the frying process. They should be called cancer fries, not French fries, said Adams .
5. Chips, crackers, and cookies
All are usually made with white flour and sugar. Even the ones whose labels claim to be free of trans-fats generally contain small amounts of trans-fats.

BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS
1. No Breakfast
People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level.
This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.
2. Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power..
3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.
4. High Sugar consumption
Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.
6. Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.
Adults require 7 to 8 hours sleep daily. Children require 9 to 10 hours sleep daily for their brain to develop properly.
7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.
8. Working your brain during illness
Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.
9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.
10. Talking Rarely
Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain
11. Too much TV is bad for health
Too much TV is bad especially for children.
Watching TV before bed is not good and does not promote good deep sleep for the brain to rest well and develop properly.
