Dear Team
By this time all of you might have got totally fed up of my repeated suggestions But deep in my heart I know you are not.
When we post a topic, many of us would love to use smileys/emotions
All these smileys have been grouped into categories in the website.
But when we select a particular smiley we want to know what exactly that particular smiley represents.
Yahoo Messenger has this facility - So I hope this too should not be that difficult for us to work out
Regards
Thomas

Hello Thomas,
I'm afraid you will have to explain this better as I am at a loss here - probably because I do not use yahoo mail or messenger but as far I understand the smileys are already divided in categories such as angry, sad, etc.
I will appreciate if you will explain the suggestion in detail.
Regards,

OK No issues you are welcome
Friend, I agreed that the smileys or emotions are divided into various categories
Now when we want to use a smiley of a particular category say - Happy - we select it from the category list Right??
So a window pops up with many happy smileys and emotions and not only one single smiley isnt it???
So I want to know what each smiley under the Happy category indicates
Still if you have not understood let me know...................You are welcome
Thanks and Warm Regards
Thomas

Hello Thomas,
I have had a brief look at the yahoo template and it seems they have only a few smileys and therefore it is easy for them to describe each one of them. It is slightly difficult to implement the same for this website where there are several smileys indicating the same thing e.g. there are a few smileys that indicate the expression 'laughing' and there are quite a few that represent the expression 'smiling' - and therefore I grouped both under the category 'Happy' .... now if I was to label each individual smiley seperately, quite a few of them will end up having the same labels such as 4 with the label 'laughing', 3 with the label 'smiling', & so on.
One option is to revert to the yahoo 'one-smiley-per-expression' style but then that will limit the options available whereas I would have thought that most people would prefer to have several smileys available to select from - e.g. you might like a particular smiley for 'smiling' better than the others whereas I may prefer a different one alltogether. So it may not be a bad idea to have several options available to select from, to cater to individual preferences.
Give me some time to look into this and figure out what I can do - I might come up with a different layout style to sub-divide the categories further so that each category represents only one expression (e.g. 'Smiling', 'Laughing', etc) but only if its not too much of a clutter as we might then end up with a long list of categories to select from - so let me try a few experiments to see if its possible to come up with a better categorisation that the current one.
One thing I have already realised, while looking into this, is that some of the smileys repeat and I will try to get rid of the duplicates in the next couple of days.
Regards,
