Hi all,
Has anyone watched the oscar winning movie called 'My left foot'? Well, i have watched the movie and it is a wonderful one!! Applause

It's based on the real life story of a person with cerebral palsy...Christie Brown. The movie is about the way he overcomes all barriers laid down by his disability and emerges as a winner...truly inspiring!

A must watch, I strongly recommend it!!

Some movies are really lovely. Just the other day I was watching a regular commercial movie named ' The Family Stone', a romantic comedy about a man who brings the lady he wants to marry to his home on Christmas to meet his large family. Amongst the family member's is a brother who is hearing impaired. The way his character has been is written is marvelous. His is a small role but it is so much a part of the family that a viewer does not see hearing impairment as a issue at all. It is a movie where there is no fuss over the disability & one can see inclusion at its best.

Try watching it on star movies sometime http://www.thefamilystonemovie.com/

Hey, does anyone remember the movie "Edward Scissorhands". It was released in 1990 and cast included Jhonny Depp, Winona Ryder and Dianne Wiest. Jhonny Depp (Edward) has scissors instead of hands. He is brought down to the plains from the gothic hilltop mansion by Avon (Dianne Wiest) and introduced to the society. What follows is a story worth watching. The movie touches on some very sensitive issues and how edward is hated and then loved through time.

I remember when I watched this movie, it had more of an amusement value as we watched a human with scissors instead of hands, I could hardly understand the complexity of issues that it touched, now when I have slightly better understanding of things, I think I can relate to what went on in it.

A Million Dollar Baby

If you havent seen this movie, you better do..

Well I will try and avoid telling you the story line, but just for your information, the movie stars Clint Eastwood, Hillary Swank and Morgan Freeman to name a few, and the story revolves around Maggie (Hillary Swank) who dreams of becomming a boxer, and is after much pursuation helped by Frankie (Clint Eastwood) to achieve her dreams. The story takes a twist when Maggie is severely injured (spinal injury) during a championship match which ends all her dreams of boxing any further. Though the end of the movie has been debated by many to be controversial, I wouldnt want to add to the debate by expressing my opinions. Rather I think you should watch it and form your own !

16 Vayathinile (also known as Pathinaru Vayathinile) (At the Age of Sixteen) (1977) is a Tamil feature film directed by Bharathiraja. The film stars Kamal Hassan, Sridevi and Rajinikanth. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The film marked Bharathiraja's debut as a film maker/screenwriter and it met with a strong critical reception upon release.
This film involves a young, beautiful 16-year-old girl, Mayil (Sridevi), filled with ambitions of becoming a teacher. She is an attractive, intelligent woman living in the small society and experiences ripe love when sees the new vet who has come to visit. Many are impressed by this charming young fellow who has entered the village. He seems to be a wealthy, prosperous man and soon develops a relationship with Mayil. Mayil, who is deep in love, sacrifices her opportunity to study in the teaching college course to spend time with him. Little does she know, that he has not yet revealed his true colours.

Sri Devi's distant cousin Chapani (Kamal Hasaan) is quite dim, possibly a little mentally ill, and because he is lame, he is taken advantage of and isolated by the society. He is secretly in love with Mayil, and when he sees her in love with the vet, he is jealous and upset. Another important character is the big rowdy (Rajinikanth) who is also impressed by Mayil. Mayil is impacted by all these men in her life.

Anjali (1990) is a Tamil feature film directed by Mani Ratnam, starring Raghuvaran, Revathi, Tarun and Shalini. The film's score and soundtrack is composed by Ilaiyaraaja, being his 500th movie. Anjali is about a dying autistic child, and the emotional trauma experienced by her family.

A married couple and their two children live together in South India. The family soon decide to have another child, however when born, it appears the child suffers from a terminal disease. The ailment is brought to the attention of the husband (Raghuvaran) at the local hospital, and together, the hospital authorities and the husband collude to keep the child's disease a secret from the mother (Revathi). They let the family believe the child is dead. When the truth eventually transpires, the child is brought back to the household. Colony respresentatives co-mingle to advocate the expulsion of the mentally-affected child from the neighbourhood as it is affecting other children. The film explores why the husband did what he did, how the family, including the two other children come to accept the child into their lives, how she is cared for, and whether they finally are ready to let her go

15 Park Avenue is a 2006 film made by the Bengali director Aparna Sen.

The film is the story the relationship between a girl, Meethi, (Konkona Sen Sharma) who suffers from schizophrenia, and her sister Anjali (Shabana Azmi). Meethi (short for Mitali) hails from an upper middle class family, fraught with a complex relationship structure. She is the child through the second marriage of her mother, and this is not explored in much detail in the movie since it focuses on other issues. Her older sister, Anu is a professor of physics at a university, who is shown to be intellectual and practical, the paradox in her character showing when she decides to forsake her personal life for her ailing younger sister. This shows her in a different light, and the viewer must face the contradiction throughout the movie. Meethi is shown to have dormant schizophrenic traits in her since childhood
