True Ajay.
I have practically stopped visiting temples.
Temple authorities show lot of ingenuity in inventing reasons to prevent us from entry.
It is much more peaceful to sit at home and communicate with the almighty.

Sitting up at home is fine and OK, but if you really are looking forward for a change in the attitudes of temple authorities they you will have to fight for it.

I agree with you Thomas. But the when the very purpose of going to a temple is defeated here-for a few moments of peace and tranquility with one's higher self-you feel hesitant to turn it into a battle ground.

Agreed with you, but some one has to take up oraddress this issue seriously, if today they don't change atleast let us strive to make a change for the future generation.

If all of you those who are denied  access to pray, remain silent , then the problem will not get solved by itself. Some one has to raise the voice.

You have to let the temple authorities know that you are also the children and created by the same gods those authorities serve..............and God knows our limitations ...............

Thomas,I am 100% with you.We have a responsibility toward the next in line.
I was wondering if we could make an online petition, get it published in the print media too,get as many signatures
as possible, and finally send it to the concerned ministry.
Do you think it is feasible?

This is really shocking news.

[quote="Shivani"]Persons with disbility are deined their right to pray only in India. How do you react to this I am most curious to know.

I find this shocking in a country like ours. Actually I am at a loss of words at this attitude.

Golden Temple bars disabled
Khushwant Singh
[3 May, 2007 l 0400 hrs ISTlTIMES NEWS NETWORK]

CHANDIGARH: An Australian woman who was denied entry into the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple just because she wore clinically approved bandages on her feet has embarrassed the Sikh community, especially diaspora Sikhs, and set off a heated debate on whether the holy place is friendly towards the disabled.

The incident took place last week and became public after Tom Simpson, the husband of Beverly, wrote a personal letter to Sikh minstrel in Australia Dya Singh and narrated his "grief, shock and anger" at the episode.

According to the letter, a sevadar (person manning entry) apparently told Beverly that according to Sikh tenets only a person with bare feet could enter the sanctum sanctorum and she had to stay out because she had bandages on, so what if it was due to a crippling illness.

Incidentally, Elizabeth, England's queen, was during her visit to the Golden Temple in 1997 given special permission by the SGPC to enter the sanctorum with her socks on.

In his letter Tom, who decided to visit the Golden Temple inspired by Dya Singh's narratives on the shrine, wrote: "My wife and I, after hearing a number of your concerts and your views on your faith, decided to firstly research Sikhism and then decided, on impulse, to visit the Golden Temple on a pilgrimage last month.

Beverley suffers from weak veins in her legs and feet. She has to bandage her feet, otherwise the lack of blood flow leads to swollen feet and great pain. But Beverley was stopped from entering. This is probably only a small matter to you, but to us, it was like being cheated of paying our obeisance at one of the most sacred places on this planet."

It's true that due to ancient traditional clues leather was not allowed to temples, perhaps  for the purity & conformity in dharma. Hope that priests change their attitude for a new systems like divine sacrifice with disability.

For my surprise the one of the oldest and spiritual centre established by His Holiness Sri Jgadaguru Shankaracharya's Sri Sharada Temple at Sringeri in Karnataka State having a barrier free access to disabled people.  They have recently installed some wheel chairs for easy movement in and around the temple for use of  disabled devotees.  This is the modern thinking we can get now a days with surprisingly.  I only noticed this recently as my wife is crippled in two legs visited Sri Sharada Temple along with me and we found that two wheel chairs were kept for disabled persons movements.

Thanks for the Dharma, Religion and spiritual attitude towards disabled people.

Let Us Think a Moment

In Epics The Gods Have Fought and Killed
In the Name Of religion and Hindutva Hindus have Killed
Christian Protestant and Catholic war is still going on
Muslims Kill dime a dozen with their popular Jihad
Well The Buddhisyt and Jains  & Sardars had their own time
They all killed in the name of God like They are Dogs
Only and Luckily the Atheists Does not kill in the name of God
If these killers are allowed inside their temple ,
Why not we , we did not kill anybody,
and the Leather we wear is for able too have Darshan
Is it wrong, Goto hell the priests ,
wash your soul and come to us,
We pray the God at our own place,
As for as I am concerned, the Big Temples are only Tourist Places
Where the Pandas make money

My, my... I think that they should really give leeway... It is just sad that they are denied to pray. I hope they realize something important than anything else.

They should into consideration the condition that some people are in. I'd expect that they would understand better than most people but I guess they just don't. That's saddening.
