Dear friends,
Disabled friendly people have been confronting many problem and challenges in their daily life but these problems and issues don’t diminish the ability and capabilities of person with disability.
We have to face difficulties not only in getting jobs but also in finding a good match for marriage. Non-disabled people have some doubts and misconception in terms of marriage with a disabled partner. And even in my own observation, non-disabled folks don’t think that disabled people are capable for getting married.
Well we had lot of discussion on this matter couple of weeks back on the list and, I asked members whether we should start a forum for fulfilling an objective of marriage of disabled person.
Till the time, there is no single response on this proposal.
Dear Vikas and Shivani,
Could we have any plan to start a forum in the list where person with all kind of disabilities may find their soul mates?
Fortunately, The Accessibility forum is growing more day by day and I suspect there would be many single folks like me who might be in a search for a suitable life partner.
Responses and opinions of the members on this thread will be highly appreciated.

Hello Amit & Thomas,
Thanks for the suggestion. Like I have always said, this is a community forum & we will shape it to match member's requirements.
I have added a poll option for members to vote whether they will like to have a marriage forum on this board. Subject to the results of this poll, we shall get some IT support to get this organised.
I encouage all to vote in this poll - so we know what everyone thinks about this issue.
Regards,

Unni you are right we are a bit late.
But remember the maxim "Better late than never"
Vikas - Till when is the polling booth open here, I dont know how many people will actually even come to know that there is an election here on this, 116 people have reigisterd so far but not even a handful of them are taking an active part in the forum.
We need to devise some strategy to reactivate them back here.
Something can be worked out .
Regards
Thomas

Hello Thomas,
I have set up the poll to run for a week. Almost everyone does receive a daily email digest of the postings & so I hope that most people are aware of this. You are right - only very few people log in on a regular basis - i suspect that they are visiting the forum but not logging in or participating in the discussions (stats reveal that the forum gets over 125 visitors per day).
Regards,

NO, we aren't that much late as this list is also not very old and formed hardly 6 Months back, however, now something should be done in this direction very soon.
Truly said, most of our members are not participating in the forum. They are requested to at least take part in general discussion, Right Vikas sir?
Also, we should have no hesitation in getting interacted with one another. The more we talk, communicate, the more this forum would be useful and successful at the ground level.
Hope this matter would be reaching to every member and they'll give their verdict, as Vikas said.

Amit,
Your are right - the forum is still very young - about 3 months old.
Thanks for reinforcing my post - I wish more people will actively participate in the discussions and also send in their suggestions as thats the only way we can truly customise this forum to meet the expectations of members.
Regards,

Though the forum is only three months old , membership has just accelerated like anything.
No where I have seen such a wonderful forum where all have interacted so well.
I have been a member of many forums, but then I used to get dissatisfied with many issues.
But here the team members of Accessability - Sachin, Shivan and Vikas, inspite of their hectic schedules are constantly interacting wtih others too, and that why we see the membership growing day by day
I am simply addicted and hooked to it
In fact as a part of my efforts, I just keep introducing this forum to others too both differentlyabled and abled bodied too.
I exhort each and every member to do the same.
As Amit says "together we are better" , so coming together will help us to make the world a different place and put a smile on the faces of the less fortunate - one soul at a time
cheers
Thomas

Hi Friends,
If Shivani & Team like I am interested in taking-up the responsibility. Do you want a site for disabled only or it can be for everyone including to disabled? Do you guy's/Gals have any special Ideas or specific features that you feel are most important?

Hello Balasatya,
Many thanks for volunteering to do this. Your offer is highly appreciated.
I will get back to you regarding the features that we are likely to need. But the first priority feature that I can think of straight away is that the site needs to be linked into this forum (which runs on phpbb) so that people are able to access the forum & the site with a single log-in.
I believe this answers your question - just like this forum, the site will be open to all & not just the disabled -- but people will have to join the forum to access the site.
Regards,

Hi Vikas,
I got your points. As far as I know PhpBB doesn't support such things ( i mean single sign-on).
I personally don't think forum is gud for such personal matters. Forums are usually for community interaction.
But for such delicate and personal issue we need more than that.
Thanks for your prompt reply.
Regards.

hello all,
sorry i've not been regular over the last few days.
Despite the lack of other members support on this issue, we will try to add the marriage board feature because of the enthusiasm shown by the regular members who have posted on this thread. However, unfortunately, at present our IT team is extremely busy working on the EmployAbility website and therefore the marriage forum might have to wait for another month.
regards,
Vikas
P.S.: Balasatya - if you are still volunteering to take this on, then email/ PM me & we can discuss how best to take this forward.

Hi,
Marriages are decided in heaven, and why not forums. First step to it will be adding in the registration of members
- What Kind of disability
- Marital Status
- whether employed
- whether willing to be listed
