The UP state Disabled Welfare department will now have training institutes for the disabled based on different disabilities and also the level of disability.
According to department officials, so far, the disabled training centres were generalised, where people with any kind of disability were given training.
A senior official, preferring not to be named, said, “Except the visually-challenged, all the other disabled persons were given similar training in our institutes. The training was irrespective of their disability. Often, we realised that not all of them could complete the training.”
The department now plans to have institutes based on individual disabilities. According to the plan, people with similar disabilities will be trained together, as it will help them learn a vocational skill according to their disability level and aptitude. For example, those with amputated or paralysed arms will be trained in skills where they can use their legs. “This way, they will have expert teachers instead multi-taskers,” said an official.
The organisations working to help the disabled said such a measure will certainly help. Amresh of Sense International said, “People with disabilities will not only come to such institutes for a vocational skill, but they can also share their experiences. This will help them cope with their disabilities in a big way.”

Hi vikas,
Why is all the trainings concevtrated to orthopaedically handicapped. There are lot of people disabled by neurolgical and spinal injuries.who also can not, talk, walk, or move their arms. You take my case with right hand and right leg affected, there i tried for different forums for a suitable vehicle, and a coach, I dont know driving as such. What I want is a simple thing callled mability traing for disabled whether ortho or neuro affected a traning class on driving and assistance thru license. Can any NGO DO it? I dont want a car Only two/three wheeler training will do it.

Dear Karthik, (as you had mentioned earlier - you would liked to be addressed as )
This training mentioned above is a must - but I only hope that the training will not be something BASIC in nature - instead it should be something ADVANCED. This is an educational training.
I don't think there is something like Mobility Training - you could use the modified vehicles specially designed for people with disabilities in India. just ask Mr Jayesh (Unni) about it - he will give you some hints on this.
There is another one guy named Mr Ferdinand on the Forum. He undertakes redesigning of vehicles for the physically challenged you consult him also. Just check out his website - www.handicappedpeople.com.
Hope these meet your requirements.

HI Karthik,
I am a paraplegic due to spinal injusr, and have beeen driving for the past three years, made my car for my comfort and its easy for me, all I can controll by hands only. it does'nt need of much training, if you've a will thats enough, otherwise no training will be sufficient!
