Hii ppl..
It is sad but truth that the problem of disableds are mostly sidelined and ignored by media there are several cases or incidences related with disabled ppl which can bring spirit in present generation and can even help to resolve problems of some disableds who r really in trouble but these incidences mostly remain unnoticed by present media which usually runs behind some SANSANI news or incidences ...
And as far as our films are concerned they have not yet matured so much to handle such sensitive issues....
Like in hollywood the films that r made on disableds equally highlight their strengths too....
yours faithfully
Abhijit

Well Abhijit,
I do feel that Bollywood in the past did not portary disability well -- where disabled were either shown as pitiable individuals or as villains, but now one can really see maturity in the portaryal of disabled persons. I definately feel that 'Black' & 'Iqbal' are movies that can be compared to the best of Hollywood films. I am sure that these films will be a torch bearer for many more good films on disability

Hi all,
regarding the role of media/films in the potrayal of disability, i completely agree with shivani that our films are now taking up the issue in a more sensitive way. Though we have a long way to go but it gives me great happiness to see the positive change.

dear all,
as compare to other communities & activities none of the organisation come forward to conduct activities & events for disabled people. i thing 2 or 3 events will be conducted for disable in a year due to this our community & government take least interest in this matter.
as much as events are conducted for disables we get more attention from all section of society.
for example job fair is schedule on 10 january 2009 at chennai for disable . such type of activity is conducted throug out the year in differebnt state............. of india.
so automatically we got attention of every one...............may we get solution of problems..

Though I would aggree with Abhijeet, but is this what we are looking for. Attention! Definitly not and thank god for the medium of internet. All the information can be posted for everyone to see. We are a lot of educated people, who have access to a whole lot of information. Why don't we help one of us need. STAND TOGETHER & STAND FIRM.

Friends,
The International Wheelchair and Amputee World Games 09 just got over in Bangalore with Our atheletes winning 110 medals including 32 Golds But there was no mention of these games in the national print or visual media. Only Bangalore edition papers carried the news.
A systematic blackout on TV. Sad.

People shouldn't be judgmental on what a disabled person is capable of. It doesn't necessarily mean that there are no more field for them. I would just like to share that my boyfriend's friend got paralyzed a couple of years ago. His left arm isn't all ready functioning. However, he still manage to finish a degree in line with IT and now, he is graduating. Lesson learned? Everybody shouldn't be hopeless except the dead.
