Sadly the Fat Cats of the car industry like Tataa, Birlaa, Firodias, Mahindras and others dont count the disabled as their customers. As state ministers get free cars for their useage they cannot be bothered. So who should be?? Funny I have seen a polio afflicted political bigwig squirming his way into the Lok Sabha but not a single disabled friendly bill put up by him why?? How come a crorepati batsman is allowed to get a Ferrari tax free whereas a disabled has to pay excise and customs on a imported electric wheel chair? Why cant we get excise free Sedgeways to at least move around in the neighbourhood rather than stay glued to a chair on the balconey/window wistfully looking at children running and shrieking around. Who will ask the Fat Cats to make auto transmission fitted disabled friendly cars? Dont be surprised if they quote Maruti which has stopped making it altogether. What about stations and trains which are so dificult to climb. without seeming goulish, when will we ever learn that that with the terrorists attacking senselessly the disabled population is bound to go up. But then things in this country are only done when a VIP's son/daughter gets injured/handicapped. Yes that is my true India.

Forget a car wholly designed for the disabled.
For a long time I've been hoping for a simple mechanical gadget,
that I can carry around, which would adjust my wheelchair height
to the height of the car I climb in.
Is there anything like that in the market??

Well Shree the answer to your question is that the govt should allow us to import a Sedgeway 2 wheeler transportation aid free of excise and customs. But then who is bothered!
