The inability to experience joy and sorrow is inertia.

Experiencing joy and sorrow is a trait of consciousness.

Being happy in one's own joy and sad in one's own sorrow is a trait of animals.

Being happy at another's joy and saddened by another's sorrow is a trait of humans.

If you are saddened by other’s sorrow then sorrow will never come to you.

If you are happy at another's joy then joy will never leave you.

Seeing that every relative joy is also a misery is a sign of dispassion.

And seeing both joy and sorrow as just a technique is a sign of the wise.

Considering sorrow as mere illusion is divinity.

Transcending joy and sorrow and being established in the self is perfection.

As the late Swami Sharanananda used to say, "Pray for the strength to serve in joy and to sacrifice in sorrow."

Forgetfulness of one’s self is the root cause of pain.

The self becomes one with the objects that are all around the self. This is because of lack of perception. You think “this is me”.

Then the problems begin. There is a story....

About a wicked king who has to be killed. Only the life of the king is in a a parrot in another place, which means that the only way to kill the king is to kill the parrot.

According to the story, the king’s life is not within him and he will not die even if someone tries to kill him. To kill the king you have to go to the island where the parrot is and into a fort where the parrot is caged. The fort is guarded by cobras and anyone seeking to kill the king has to get past all of that.
When the person attempting to kill the king manages to get inside the fort, he finds that there is a cage there and the parrot inside it. Only problem is that he cannot touch the cage becuase if he does it will burn him. So he has to kill the parrot without touching it, the same way he has to kill the king without touching him.

In the same way, you keep your life somewhere else, and not within you. Your life is somewhere else, in the bank account. You have not just deposited the money in the bank. Along with the money you have also deposited your life. If something happens to the bank account, you will have a heart attack. Do you see what I am saying?

Whatever you think of as more important becomes the cause of suffering. So, when you see the difference, then the seer separates from the surrounding you will ask yourself, “What is all this?”

That’s when the true meditation happens.

The world is here for you to see. Great food is here for you to eat. The whole world is here for you to enjoy, but while enjoying do not forget yourself. You are separate from them. This is viveka.

This seen world is eliminated. It conveys a message. It gives you an idea of how great the consciousness is.

Every aspect in the wold is an expression of God.
Everything is active.
Everything is manifested from the consciousness.
Everything in this universe is dynamic. It is not static.
There is nothing that is static. Even though the mountains appear to be static, they are not. They are all dynamic. Every atom is dynamic.

Everything is governed by certain principles and certain qualities. The entire creation is made up of five elements and five organs of action. These are the ten organs. The entire creation is endowed by these ten.
The mind is also a part of the creation. This entire creation is there to give you pleasure and relief.

Whatever gives you pleasure will also give you relief. Otherwise pleasure becomes a pain.

The entire creation gives you enjoyment and liberation and relieves you. You have to get yourself liberated from all this at some time or the other so it does not become pain.

You cannot rest when you have to do something which you cannot. And you
cannot rest when you feel you have to be someone whom you are not. You are not
required to do what you cannot. You will not be asked to give what you cannot
give. Nothing is expected of you that you cannot do. Doing service involves only
doing what you can do. And no one wants you to be someone whom you are not.
This realization brings you deep rest. You cannot rest if you have either
ambition or lethargy.

Both are opposed to good rest. A lazy person will toss and
turn at night and be "rest-less" and an ambitious person will burn inside.
This rest brings up your talents and abilities and brings you closer to your
nature. Even a slight feeling that the Divine is with you brings deep rest.
And prayer, love and meditation are all flavors of deep rest.

THE NATURE OF THE FIVE SENSES IS KNOWLEDGE

Every cell of your body has the ability of all the five senses.
You can see without the eyes. Vision is part of consciousness; that is why in
dreams you can see without the eyes.
You can feel without the skin; that is why people without limbs
can still feel itching in that part. You can smell without the nose; taste
without the tongue.
The 5 senses and thinking ability are all present in
consciousness. So each cell of the body has the potential ability to perform all
the functions of the senses.
When someone says something; you are all ears . . . you are
listening from every cell of your body. There is the expression "looking from a
1000 eyes"; one is all eyes. All cells are made of the same tissue. . . each DNA
has the ability of all functions of the body.
Consciousness is inherent in all the cells.
Every sensory stimulus brings knowledge which is the nature of
consciousness. Sight brings some knowledge - blue, red, green. Knowingness is
the nature of consciousness.

Do you know about yourself?

Just find out about yourself first.


If you think you are just the body, it is not possible, because body has its limitations.
If you think you are the mind, that’s also not possible because mind has its limitation, it’s another layer.
If you know that you are Silence or you are Space, then it is possible;

God is also Space. Space is God. Can you see space separately?

When we start listening to our heart then we know that all is one and all is God.

GOD stands for Generator, Operator and Destroyer.


The present moment has generated;
the present moment is operating;
and the present moment destroyed the past.

So, you are in God and, God is in you...

CREATE VISION

Never believe anyone who says we cannot change. Vision is one of the
secrets of personal transformation. We are all artists, our mind is the
arena of creation and vision is what we are constantly creating. What is
your vision of yourself today - patient, relaxed, positive or tense,
tight and negative? What do you prefer? So be creative - what does
patience look like, feel like, what are you doing that is different when
you are patient and you are expressing your power to ..wait? Always
start with vision not action. See it and you will be it. Be it and you
will do it. This is how we create our own life.

HUMILITY IS GREATNESS

Just as a tree that is full of fruit bows down for others to take the
fruit, one who is humble will always live in self respect and treat
others with respect.

PEACE AND STABILITY

Every moment is precious. Let me fill myself with so much peace and
stability that whoever comes in front of me at any time is at ease and
uplifted

CALM

In tune with my inner rhythm, I draw wisdom from the past, allowing the
future to shape itself around me. My mind is a sanctuary where shafts of
golden sunlight laze as though resting in the aisles of some great
cathedral. Everything is as it should be. I remain simple in the midst
of complexity, sure at times of unease, and clear in the company of
others.

RESPECT

When I learn to respect myself, other people will respect me. How can I
develop respect for myself? By keeping my mind positive and encouraging
myself to grow and change for the better. Demanding respect because of
my position or background is simply arrogance. On the other hand,
listening with humility and valuing other people's advise naturally
earns me respect. I get back exactly what I give out.

LET GO OF EMOTIONS

Emotions can feel uncontrollable - we have no choice but to experience
them. But to live by our emotions is to live under a tyrant's rule.
Acknowledge emotions for what they are, without shame or guilt, and then
allow them to pass through you like wind moving through the leaves of a
tree. Remember that it is only with your permission that feelings can
change the way you behave.


Talking comes by nature, silence by wisdom.
No act of kindness is ever wasted.

When it comes to meeting and conquering the negativity in your life, here is a key question: what can you do, starting today, that will make a difference?  What can you do during economic chaos? What can you do when everything has gone wrong? What can you do when you've run out of money, when you don't feel well and

it's all gone sour? What can you do?

Let me give you the broad answer first. You can do the most remarkable things, no matter what happens. People can do incredible things, unbelievable things, despite the most impossible or disastrous circumstances.

Here is why humans can do remarkable things: because they are remarkable. Humans are different than any other creation. When a dog starts with weeds, he winds up with weeds. And the reason is because he's a dog. But that's not true with human beings. Humans can turn weeds into gardens.

Humans can turn nothing into something, pennies into fortune, and disaster into success. And the reason they can do such remarkable things is because they are remarkable. Try reaching down inside of yourself; you'll come up with some more of those remarkable human gifts. They're there, waiting to be discovered and employed.

With those gifts, you can change anything for yourself that you wish to change. And I challenge you to do that because you can change. If you don't like how something is going for you, change it. If something isn't enough, change it. If something doesn't suit you; change it. If something doesn't please you, change it You don't ever have to be the same after today. If you don't like your present address change it — you're not a tree!

If there is one thing to get excited about, it's your ability to make yourself do the necessary things, to get a desired result, to turn the negative into success. That's true excitement.

Mistakes keep happening all the time. Often you get irritated by them and want to correct them. How much can you correct?  There are two situations when you correct other’s mistakes:

1. You correct someone’s mistake because it bothers you. But even if you correct it, this does not work.

2. You correct someone’s mistake, not because it bothers you, but for their sake so that they can grow.

To correct mistakes you need authority and love. Authority and love seem to be contradictory, but in reality they are not.
Authority without love is stifling and does not work.
Love without authority is shallow.
A friend needs to have both authority and love but they need to be in the right combination. This can happen if you are totally dispassionate and centered.  

When you allow room for mistakes, you can be both authoritative and sweet. That is how the Divine is, the right balance of both. Krishna and Jesus had both. People, when they are in love, exercise authority with each other. Authority and love exist in all relationships.

Divine has a plan. Always there is a plan working in the background. A big picture not very difficult to visualise for a silent saint. It is creating a kind of deep untouched passionate yearning somewhere inside I cannot reach. Somewhere I wish I could forever be. Somewhere far off in the darkest layer of a thick forest. I wish to fly there and be. In the noisy de-stabilising churning movement of the race one finds oneself sucked in every now and then, where is the space to stand back and stare blankly at the crowds, gaze at stars or enjoy the flow of a river from its bank. Somewhere at the end of the road, somewhere beyond the horizon, beyond the milky way, perhaps leading towards end of universe.... . or beyond!

Looking at whats going around, taking part in the flow of events, being the drop in the waterfall that follows the others with the fall to make it right into the splashy puddle of water body surrounded by rocks below, splurging, rising, simmering with a glitter of sun peircing through, droping back into and finally onwards onto forming another stream ready for another jump, life of a drop that once sat atop a glacier, transformed from ice to snow to itself, from stilled saturated form to distilled liquid carrying the message of love from mountains all the way towards an ocean.....!

You are made up of both your father and mother; so, within you you have both the characteristics of mother and father, male and female. There are many men who have motherly qualities in them, feminine qualities in them. And then, there are many women who have more male qualities in them. Love is beyond the qualities; Love is beyond male or female. It is not just limited to body or emotions. It is something that transcends all these identifications.

Relationship
Relationship is what? Feeling no separation-- -I am you, you are me. You are part of me, I am part of you.

Change
Feelings change, thoughts change, ideas change, body is undergoing changes all the time. But the thirst deep within us is for something that is not changing, that is eternal, that is always, that is the same.

Love is not
Love is not happening; love is being. Love is not an act; it is existence. Love is not emotion; it's your very nature.

Take some time
Have you taken some time for yourself, to cleanse the system of all these negativities, negative emotions? Have you taken some time off to find the source from where we have come up and where we will be going back? Don't think you'll be here forever!

Be a collector of good ideas, but don't trust your memory. The best collecting place for all of the ideas and information that comes your way is your journal.

The reason why I spend so much money for my journals is to press me to find something valuable to put in them.

There are three things to leave behind: your photographs, your library and your personal journals. These things are certainly going to be more valuable to future generations than your furniture!

Don't use your mind for a filing cabinet. Use your mind to work out problems and find answers; file away good ideas in your journal.

This is a true story that happened in Japan.
In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan breaks open the wall.
Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls.
When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there
because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet. He sees this,
feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, it
was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built.
What happened? The lizard has survived in such position for 10
years!!!!!!!
In a dark wall partition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and
mind-boggling. Then he wondered how this lizard survived for 10 years!!!
without moving a single step--since its foot was nailed! So he stopped his
work and observed the lizard, what it has been doing, and what and how it
has been eating. Later, not knowing from where it came appears another
lizard, with food in its mouth. Ah! He was stunned and touched deeply. For
the lizard that was stuck by nail, another lizard has been feeding it for
the past 10 years..

Imagine? it has been doing that untiringly for 10 long years, without
giving up hope on its partner. Think, will u do that to your partner?
Think that will you do it to your Mom who brought you after a big struggle
of nine long months?
Or at least to your Dad, Friends, Co-workers, brothers and Sisters?
Imagine what a small creature can do that a creature blessed with a
brilliant mind can't.
As information and communication technology advances, our access to
information becomes faster and faster. But the distance between human
beings . . .. is it getting closer as well ???
Please never abandon your loved ones !

Get rid of unhappiness and at the same time know that your mind is bright.

How ?
By breaking the natural rhythms of breath and holding the breath or sustaining the breath in different rhythms, the mind becomes calm.


If you have observed that someone you know is unhappy and you sit with that person, you also start feeling depressed or sad.

If someone is joyful, and you sit with them, you start laughing.

This feeling of being happy or unhappy is the training we have given our minds. If you have made a habit of being unhappy, you do not special reason to feel unhappy, but it has become sort of a leech on you, to keep a long face and complain!

The sadness is just your habit. It is all self-made. The moment you look at your mind, the self-made sadness will disappear. You become free of that sadness. It is just a concept like any other concept.

Your comparisons can bring you sadness. Do not compare yourself with anybody. You can be more happy then. Make your mind free of sadness. That sadness comes out of concepts. Do you see this?

Get rid of unhappiness and be happy and at the same time know that your mind is made up of light.

It is not matter......

Your mind is energy......

You are energy...... .

Only you have the power to free yourself of your sorrow.
