I want to know whether there are any employment opportunities for people with disabilities to work abroad
Is there any agency or institution which caters exclusively to the placement of people with disabilities abroad.
Can someone give me some information
Thanks
Thomas

Hello Thomas,
I can only talk about UK as I know their system well. For Indians to work in UK one needs either a Work Permit or a HSMP, or a Working Holiday Visa. For more information about legalities of working in the UK check out the Work Permits website. For a work permit you need to be a professional in their list of short-listed occupations - the list can he found here.
For information about the Working Holiday visa, check out this website. Basically a working holiday visa entitles you to be in the UK for 2 years & work whereever you want. This is a popular visa as it enables you to get a 'taster' of the country and buys you time to look for a suitable job andconvert to a work permit later, if you wanted to continue living in the UK.

UK does not (theoretically) discriminate against PWD in employment (I know Shivani will never agree on this one, after the discrimination she faced a couple of times while in the UK) - but overall the picture is not bad --- and things are improving especially after the last revision of the Disability Discrimination Act in 2005. One does not have to declare their disability when seeking employment - so in most cases the employer will not know whether the applicant is disabled. So in a nutshell the employment opportunities for PWD are just the same as for everyone else --- vacancies are available easily in certain occupations (check out the shortlisted occupations link that I posted above).

Yes - there are a few agencies in the UK that assist PWD in seeking employment - but I dont think there is any that will assist internationally i.e. if you are trying to look for a job (in UK) while staying in India. To be honest, most recuitment firms that used to do 'body shopping' earlier have closed down as this practice is no longer popular in the UK. If you are seriously considering this then let me know & I will dig out contact details of a few employment firms for you .... but these will generally only help you when you are either in the shortlisted occupations list or have already procured a HSMP visa or a Working Holiday visa - otherwise they generally do not respond to general enquiries.
I hope the above was helpful. Do contact me if you need any further information/ clarification on this.
