i saw the new mother dairy chillz ad in which two friends are playing wheelchair basketball. One of them is able bodied, but he is playing sitting on a wheelchair, inorder to play a fair game!
this is the first time that i have seen something like this by an Indian company! I liked it.

It sure is a lovely advert. It is an ad were there are no issues attached to disability and while disability is very evident but is not the focus. Its an ad about friendship and not disability and that is where the real beauty of the ad lies I feel.
Well done to Mother Dairy Chillz!!

Hi,
The ad is well made no doubt. But I have a few concerns about the thoughts that Mother Dairy itself is expressing as a reason for making the ad.
For example see this news article where the CEO says that the intention is to show that today's youth are well intentioned, ready to play with the "physically challenged," and want to do something for society. I think this spoils the beauty of the ad. If they had just said, "well its a game between friends and this is how we see society should be (as in inclusive)," that would have been right on target.

If you have ever seen a game of wheelchair basketball you'll know that there is so much competition, talent, and athleticism involved that there is no place for pity and sympathy. Its an aggressive and spirited sport with rules that are only slightly different from non-wheelchair basketball. In fact no random person can just sit on a wheelchair and play this sport. There's too much practice and wheelchair control involved.
I love how this ad starts. It shows a very fast and competitive game. And really as far as the ad is concerned it is good. However I hope that the message people take from watching this ad is different from what the original intention was.
Thoughts?
Thanks
Deepti

Deepti,
(Since you are not in India either at present) Just wondering if you saw the advert online? If so, can you pl. pass me the link for this.
I seem to be the only one left out who hasn't seen the advert

And I didn't know about the ad until I saw the messages here. So thanks to the Ability Forum for keeping me in the loop!

Thanks Deepti - that was prompt.
Just watched the advert - (although I have mixed feelings about the advert but) must admit the bunch of fools do deserve credit for having somehow managed to shield their true intents in the visual (or perhaps they were just not good enough to have actually managed to pass on the intended message ?) ... but either way an advert that is definately a great initiative.

After seeing the coments I too just watched the ad-video.
It is for us to take it in a sportive spirit. One thing is that it shows hadicapped person can have the ice cream and eat it too, provided we too take part in the competetion.
